I like to begin with an open mind. We can draw from many different sources. We can explore your thoughts, your inner talk and daily chatter. Discovering emotions may help sort out your inner feelings such as sadness, fear, anger, guilt or shame. We can follow your intuition for a transpersonal journey into your subconscious, home to our dreams, our inner child and our spirit or higher self. We can also work with your behavior and actions to identify what may impede your growth and livelihood in order to remove blocks that limit your potential.

If you are interested in the more technical aspect of my work, my theoretical training includes the approaches of Rogers, Jung , Adler and Maslow. My PhD in transpersonal studies focused on studying altered states of consciousness, dreams, symbols and archetypes.

Karen integrates traditional and newer models of healing. She is certified in Hypnosis. Trained in EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Energy and Body Focused Techniques, Archetypal Imagery, and Meditation. You will learn a series of tools that teach you how to reduce stress, heal trauma, enhance self-esteem and promote wellness. Karen uses tools and questioning that helps put you in the driver’s seat of your life.The focus is not on ‘fixing’ what needs to be healed; healing implies something is wrong and needs to be ‘fixed’.  CHANGE…You are creating a spiritual masterpiece from deep within moment to moment.

Hypnosis is an effective and speedy means of working with the mind. It makes use of the natural techniques of hypnosis to gain swift access to deeply rooted anxieties and problems.

EMDR creates new neuropathways that reduce anxiety, transform trauma and support relationships. It identifies & integrates thoughts, feelings, & sensations. New & old situations are often resolved.

Energy psychotherapy is like psychological acupressure using muscle testing and a gentle tapping technique to stimulate traditional Chinese meridian points related to a particular symptom or issue. For example, someone having a problem with anxiety would use a sequence of points that balance the energy meridians. Different types of energy psychotherapy include Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Gary Craig, Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) Elizabeth Tapas Fleming, and Touch for Health (TFH) John Thie. Through the use of these techniques energy patterns from past experiences, blockages, old paradigms and belief systems can be balanced.

Archetypes Archetypes are allies common to all from our unconscious world. These forces and guides intervene at important points of your life to encourage, challenge and empower. They help you move from where you are to where you want to be. I am at home in the imaginal realm and bring myth, Jungian psychology and fairy tales to transmit the meaning of the archetypes (Your inner characters).

This provides a larger perspective to life, looking at spiritual questions like “What is my purpose?” or ” What did my soul come to accomplish?” The transpersonal approach may include cultivating higher, expanded states of consciousness such as meditation, inter-life experiences, hypnosis, and intuition. This can help you to unfold your own intuitive and subconscious awareness so you can foster your own self-healing and experience a greater self-expression.
